More lessons learned...

You can't make someone love you.

You can't make someone like you.

People you don't care about can't hurt you.

Feelings are never wrong - no matter how old you are.

Beauty is subjective.

Don't stop drawing - if someone doesn't like your work, it's their problem.

Don't tell someone you'll do something just because you feel guilty.

Stand up for your family - and for yourself. Defend the innocent.

Know your limitations.

Playing the helpless female works with old men (be shameless here).

Be bold!

Always try something new.

Be yourself whether other people like you or not, and don't apologize for it.

You can bribe people with food.

FD&C Red 40 is the devil.

Don't ever take any medicine that you don't really need.

The texture of pasta is yucky.

Don't use an X-Acto knife to cut through foam board.

Don't bother finishing the last 20 pages of a book - just write the paper.

Tell no one.

Don't be seen.

Don't eat after 7 p.m. when you're pregnant unless it's packed with protein (oddly enough).

Always listen to Dad.

Listen to Mom, too.

Be nice to Grandma.

Go fishing with Grandpa - I did, you should too!

Don't back-bite.

Don't ever, ever, ever tell a girl that you like her shirt in a sarcastic voice - maybe her dad who gave it to her died, and Karma is a bitch.

Don't ever put anything in writing! Not my lesson-learned, but a piece of sage advice nonetheless.

Don't sign something if you haven't read it - including the fine print! Again, not my mistake, but wise nevertheless.

Don't take it apart to see how it works, just accept it.

Wear a mask when mixing with powdered pigments, dammit!

Be able to laugh at yourself - even if they're not laughing with you.

Don't click on that...

Goonie Follow-up

So as a follow-up to the Glamourous Goonies post, we found Mom's Glamour Shots the other day. Again, they were the only nice ones. I was looking for my old prom pics (a special treat forthcoming for my Facebook friends!). The fishing expedition was not as successful as I had hoped. I only manged to find my junior prom picture in a frame, which I could have just taken off Mom's table instead of rooting through everything. In any case, it's hilarious... enough said.

Glamourous Goonies

So my mom is retired. We were discussing one of her old jobs on the way to exchange a sweater at Target. I don't think her old co-workers were always the most friendly, but my mom made nice by inviting them all to a Glamour Shots party she won on the radio. They were her friends for about 5 minutes after that. Anyway, I digress. It was getting close to Christmas, so the girls all went to Glamour Shots and had their photos taken - some of them in Santa/Mrs. Claus suits. My mom said she would pick up all the prints but agreed not to look at any of them but her own. That's nice, but my sister and I didn't agree on anything. We opened all the envelopes and looked at all the pictures. We nearly peed our pants! They were hilarious - one chick was wrapped up in a red velvet blanket trimmed in white fur. She looked like an overgrown baby wrapped in a blanket trying too hard to be sexy. One of them with spiked hair looked like a man in a dress. They were all the Goonies monster! My mom, however, was beautiful. Gee, after all that, Mom really should have looked at the pictures. They were so mean - she deserved to laugh at something! Needless to say, our shameless invasion of their privacy makes us laugh every time we talk about it.

Just for Artists...

I think this is really funny, but then again, I'm a dork.
